overview sailing adventures airlie beach

The Whitsunday region boasts 74 stunning islands centrally located off the coast of Airlie Beach in Northern Queensland. Many of the islands are national parks surrounded by amazing fringing reefs. Its calm waters and easy access to the Great Barrier Reef have made it one of Queensland's top three tourist destinations. With an average year round temperature of 27°C/ 80°F, it is an ideal spot to stop and relax or get out and explore!

With the largest bareboat (skipper yourself) fleet in the world, the Whitsundays have become internationally famous as the most ideal destination to sail. There are also over 100 fully-crewed sailing boats offering everything from backpacker party boats to luxury sailing. You can go out for a day or liveaboard for 2, 3 or 7 night adventures.

Sailing extras include snorkeling, diving, trips to the Great Barrier Reef, rainforest hikes, tubing, Kiteboarding, even learn to sail courses. With so many options and premier accommodation on both the mainland and the islands, the Whitsundays has something to suit everyone and all budgets.
